Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park to Host “Songs of Service” Recognition at Lunch on the Lawn

Big Stone Gap, VA. The Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park and the Friends of the Museum are hosting their annual “Songs of Service” to celebrate the National Day of Service and Remembrance on Friday, Sept. 9 from noon until 1 p.m

“Songs of Service” will feature a performance by Cody Mabe. Cody was raised in Big Stone Gap, VA. His love of music spans many genres, but his passion and songwriting talents are rooted deep in country music. He has performed with greats such as Randy Owen of Alabama and he recently received recognition for penning “What We Had to Do” for the Telly award winning documentary, “Scramble the Seawolves”. Mabe is currently signed with Tower Music Group in Nashville, TN.  His recent single “Textin on a Tractor” has over 47,000 streams on Spotify.

The “Friends of the Museum” will sponsor a free meal to all service members that attend to recognize the selfless and brave work they perform on a daily basis.

The public may bring their own lunch, or purchase a delicious lunch from GetFed food truck.
