Get ready for an electrifying night of rhythm, passion, and unparalleled energy as Las Guaracheras, the sensational all-female sextet from Cali, Colombia, take the stage for a highly anticipated performance in Big Stone Gap. Renowned for their dynamic fusion of Afro-Caribbean rhythms such as salsa, cumbia, and music from the Pacific region of Colombia, Las Guaracheras have taken the Latin music scene by storm, captivating audiences with their powerful message and infectious stage presence. With vibraphone, percussion, bass, piano, and vibrant harmonies, their compositions and lyrics revolve around the revindication and recognition of the role of women in the music industry and seek to express the power and strength of women as sources of love, hope, resilience, and creativity.
Las Guaracheras will perform at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 5th in the Goodloe Center at Mountain Empire Community College in conjunction with Pro–Art’s 48th season and the W. Campbell Edmonds Concert Series. Tickets are $10 at the door. Children and students will be admitted free. A talkback will follow the performance. Later this year, the ensemble will play LACMA Latin Sounds (CA) and Twin Cities Jazz Festival (MN).
